A dynamic and fast-evolving organization in Wakefield is seeking a Project Accountant to provide financial support for project development and oversee various accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong ERP and Excel skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role includes compliance oversight, procurement support, and team supervision.
A unique opportunity has arisen for a Project Accountant to join a dynamic and fast-evolving organisation undergoing significant growth and transformation. This high-impact role will report directly to the Finance Director and will include:
Accounting and financial support to project development and construction teams.
Advise on project cost allocation, reporting requirements, and contract terms (e.g. invoicing, settlement).
Support procurement processes, including PO creation, receipting, and invoice approvals within the ERP system.
Ensure compliance with financing arrangements, including debt servicing and loan reporting obligations.
Supervise an Assistant Accountant to ensure accurate transaction processing.
Prepare regular cost and management reports, including cost-to-complete forecasts and month-end journals.
Oversee financial administration of project entities, including VAT, corporation tax, and statutory reporting.
Maintain robust internal controls and reconcile project and bank accounts.
Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below experience:
Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent experience.
Strong ERP and Excel reporting skills.
Commercially minded with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
A collaborative team player who can also work independently.
