Job description
Overview

We believe that our strength is not just in our steel but the diversity of our workforce. Our people make the difference. At Tata Steel, we produce the materials that shape everything from buildings to bridges - and we couldn't do it without a hardworking team behind the scenes. We're now looking for reliable, safety-focused people to join us in production roles at our Hartlepool site. If you've worked in a warehouse, factory, steel plant, or other heavy industry setting - and you're looking for secure, well-paid work in a proper team environment - this could be the perfect fit for you.

What you will do

You'll work as part of a team to help run our production lines and move steel safely through the site. This is hands-on, physical work, and you'll be responsible for your own safety and the safety of those around you. You'll report to a Team Leader and work with colleagues across production and warehousing to keep things running smoothly. Your tasks could include:

  • Operating machinery and equipment (after training), including cranes, forklifts, or mobile plant
  • Carrying out checks and inspections to meet safety and quality standards
  • Helping to load, unload, and move steel around the site
  • Following safety procedures and supporting improvement projects
  • Working flexibly across different lines when needed

You're expected to be comfortable with manual handling and working at height, and you'll be expected to follow set procedures at all times to keep yourself and your team safe.

Requirements

We're looking for people who are reliable, switched-on, and ready to learn. You’ll need:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade C or above)
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics environment
  • A strong understanding of safety in the workplace
  • A positive, team-focused attitude and good communication skills
  • Flexibility to work across different areas and shifts when needed

It would also be great if you have:

  • Experience in steel, ports, transport, or heavy industry
  • A current Forklift, HGV, or Side Loader licence
  • Slinging/lifting training
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

Please note: You must be aged 18 or over due to site safety regulations.
