Procurement Specialist

Salary: Circa £34,520 - £43,151 per annum (plus benefits)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Gloucester EFW, DY2 8YT

As a Procurement Specialist at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for procurement at the EFW facilities in Javelin, Gloucester and Dudley, ensuring the health and safety of staff, approved suppliers/contractors, minimising environmental impact, and achieving high standards of service and quality. You will report to the Senior Procurement Advisor.

This vacancy is for a full‑time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?
  • Implementing group procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and negotiating contracts to achieve cost savings and efficiency
  • Overseeing the full procurement process, including preparing tenders, reviewing and placing orders, and ensuring compliance with company policies
  • Collaborating with plant engineers and other teams to define requirements, resolve issues with goods and services, and support group‑wide procurement initiatives
  • Monitoring purchasing activity, maintaining pricing structures, and preparing reports to track performance and support decision‑making
  • Liaising with accounts payable to ensure timely invoice payments and supporting continuous improvement in procurement practices
What are we looking for?
  • Ideally educated to A‑level standard
  • Minimum three years’ experience in procurement and contract management
  • Experience in purchasing commodities and project management
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
  • CIPS qualification desirable
  • Current knowledge of best practice in procurement
  • Self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to re‑evaluate priorities and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Resilient and robust in managing third parties
