Job description

Associate – Healthcare & Healthtech Investments

Location: London

Platform: Private Equity Fund (£2bn+ AUM)

The Firm

Our client is a leading specialist private equity investor with over £2bn in committed capital, exclusively dedicated to the healthcare and healthtech sectors. With a diversified LP base of blue-chip institutions, pension funds, and select family offices, the fund is recognised for its ability to combine deep sectoral expertise with a rigorous, data-driven investment approach.

The firm partners with founders, management teams, and strategic operators to build market-leading platforms across Europe—deploying capital into subsectors that benefit from long-term demographic tailwinds, technological disruption, and regulatory change. The team has a track record of delivering transformational growth through platform build-outs, buy-and-build strategies, and operational value creation initiatives. Actively investing out of its most recent vehicle, the fund is strengthening its London team with an Associate hire who will gain immediate responsibility and senior exposure.

The Opportunity

The incoming Associate will operate as a core member of a lean, high-performing investment team, engaging across the full investment lifecycle—from origination and thematic sourcing to transaction execution, portfolio strategy, and exit planning. With healthcare and healthtech continuing to attract global capital inflows, the role offers unparalleled exposure to one of the most resilient and innovation-driven sectors in private markets.

The position is designed for an ambitious investor who combines analytical precision with commercial judgement, and who can navigate both the financial and scientific/technical dimensions of healthcare businesses. Associates will work directly with senior partners, portfolio CEOs, and sector specialists, gaining the opportunity to shape investment theses and strategic agendas from day one.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transaction execution: Lead core workstreams on live deals, including advanced LBO and DCF modelling, sensitivity/scenario analysis, valuation benchmarking, and preparation of investment materials.
  • Due diligence: Manage multi-stream diligence processes across financial, commercial, legal, regulatory, reimbursement, and operational domains; coordinate external advisors; and distil complex findings into actionable insights.
  • Investment thesis development: Collaborate with partners to articulate sector-led theses, translating macro themes (e.g. ageing demographics, digital transformation, outpatient migration) into proprietary deal origination strategies.
  • Portfolio engagement: Partner with management teams of portfolio companies to implement strategic initiatives, monitor KPIs, evaluate bolt-on acquisitions, and prepare for future exit pathways.
  • Origination: Support proactive deal sourcing via founder engagement, thematic mapping, and leveraging proprietary networks across diagnostics, medtech, digital health, and provider services.
  • Knowledge development: Build deep domain expertise in sub-verticals, becoming a subject-matter resource internally and externally.
Candidate Profile
  • Experience: 3+ years in investment banking (M&A), private equity, or transaction advisory with significant exposure to complex cross-border or sector-specific transactions; healthcare exposure strongly preferred.
  • Deal track record: Demonstrated ability to lead financial analysis, manage diligence workstreams, and contribute to investment committee discussions with clarity and conviction.
  • Technical rigour: Advanced financial modelling skills, with the ability to independently build, adapt, and stress-test complex LBO and operating models under tight deadlines.
  • Commercial judgement: Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interrogate business models, growth drivers, regulatory environments, and competitive positioning.
  • Personal qualities: Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and low-ego team player, with the resilience to thrive in a flat, non-bureaucratic environment and the intellectual curiosity to engage across scientific and commercial dimensions.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills; able to produce investment-grade materials and engage credibly with founders, advisors, and LPs.
  • Education: Outstanding academic credentials from a top university; fluency in English is required, with additional European languages considered advantageous.
