Job summary

A recruitment firm specializing in nuclear is seeking a Principal Radiation Physicist for a permanent role in Barrow-in-Furness. The successful candidate will supervise analysis and experiments for system qualification, lead Hawksi design balancing build and performance requirements, and produce safety justifications for designs. Candidates should hold a relevant STEM degree and have experience with radiation transport codes. This position offers the chance to contribute to critical nuclear projects.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of radiation transport codes such as MCNP/MCBSYM/Attilla.
  • Understanding of CAS radiation physics.
  • Experience of radiation safety studies & behaviours.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and conducting analysis and experiments to support system qualification.
  • Leading detailed Hawksi design, balancing build requirements alongside system performance requirements.
  • Producing and reviewing radiological safety justifications for proposed design solutions.

Skills

Relevant STEM degree in Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Nuclear Engineering
Experience of radiation transport codes such as MCNP/MCBSYM/Attilla
Understanding of CAS radiation physics
Experience of radiation safety studies & behaviours
Experience of radiation metrology
Knowledge of the ALARP principle
