SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Salford)
Teaching Personnel

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Salford-based primary school that caters for pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, global developmental delay, social–emotional needs, communication difficulties, and physical or sensory impairments. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child is valued and supported to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to pupils with diverse and complex needs, adapting activities and learning materials to ensure full engagement.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies.
  • Assist with communication and social interaction, using visual aids, sensory tools, or alternative communication methods where required.
  • Create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Deliver small-group or one-to-one interventions, helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and key learning skills.
  • Provide personal care where necessary, ensuring dignity, respect, and full safeguarding compliance at all times.
Requirements
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one through Teaching Personnel).
  • Safeguarding training (provided by Teaching Personnel)
  • Experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a school or care setting.
  • A patient, compassionate and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting children’s development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
