Job summary

A trusted engineering firm in Poole is seeking a detail-driven Quality Engineer to work on projects that involve high-integrity electro-mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Quality Assurance or Quality Control, with a good understanding of engineering drawings and compliance. Responsibilities include reviewing requirements, verifying hardware conformity, and conducting audits, ensuring quality is valued deeply. This role offers autonomy and the chance to make real improvements in design, build, and delivery.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control within an electro-mechanical or defence-related engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with auditing and compliance (internal auditor certification preferred).
  • Knowledge of 8D, RCA, and continuous improvement methods.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer and contract requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Verify configuration and conformity of complex hardware.
  • Prepare and maintain project quality documentation.
  • Lead and support First Article Inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests.
  • Carry out internal and supplier audits.
  • Manage the internal audit schedule and corrective actions.
  • Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
