Job description

Shape the future of project delivery with precision and impact.

As a PMO Planner, you'll be at the heart of complex programmes, creating and maintaining integrated plans that keep everything on track. Your expertise will ensure planning coherence, support governance, and enable effective monitoring and control. This is your chance to influence strategic decisions, align outputs with Capita standards, and play a pivotal role in driving successful outcomes. Please note this is a fixed-term contract running until March 2027.

This is a home-based role, giving you flexibility to work from your own space. However, you'll need to travel to either our Upavon or London sites for workshops approximately 1-2 times per month, so your home location should allow for this occasional travel.

As part of our commitment to building an inclusive and diverse workforce, we would particularly welcome applications from people who are from Black, Asian and other ethnic minority backgrounds.

What you'll be doing
  • develop and maintain integrated project and programme plans, ensuring dependencies, milestones, and resource constraints are captured
  • facilitate mobilisation planning and align schedules with client requirements and timelines
  • implement planning controls and assurance frameworks in line with Capita governance standards
  • integrate resource, risk, issue, and dependency management into delivery plans, with clear escalation and mitigation strategies
  • assess and manage the impact of change requests, maintaining adherence to change control processes and communicating updates
  • provide accurate reporting and data-driven insights to support governance forums and strategic decision-making
What we're looking for

We're after a planning expert who thrives in complex environments and brings clarity to every schedule. You'll combine technical know-how with strong communication skills to keep stakeholders aligned and projects on track. If you're confident using leading project management tools and can turn data into actionable insights, this role is for you.

Essential skills and experience
  • proven track record in planning and scheduling across large, complex programmes
  • proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project or Project Online
  • exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including working with senior leaders
  • hands‑on experience integrating risk, issue, and dependency management into plans
  • strong analytical mindset with the ability to produce clear, data‑driven reports
  • collaborative approach, working closely with PMO teams to align outputs with governance and assurance
Desirable
  • professional accreditation (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2, APM PMQ)
  • experience in public sector or defence programmes
