Job description
Overview

We are looking to recruit an experienced, highly organised, motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy technician to join our friendly Aseptic Services team working in our MS licensed and unlicensed Aseptic Units. This post suits self-motivated, qualified technicians with a minimum of two years post-qualification GMP experience.

Working as a key member of the team alongside the aseptic unit management and Quality Assurance teams, you will play a major role in the day-to-day running and development of the service and in the provision of safe, effective injectable medicines for a wide range of patients, including premature babies and cancer patients. The post holder will assist in outsourcing of chemotherapy and CIVAS products and will support managing and further developing this service. After training, there is the opportunity to rotate into our Radiopharmacy department on an ad hoc basis to assist in the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of outsourced chemotherapy and CIVAS products.
  • Organise and plan workload within the aseptic unit; support day-to-day operations and development of the service.
  • Provide coordination within the unit and office as required.
  • Support the management and development of the aseptic service, including QA and compliance activities.
  • Work some weekends and Bank Holidays as part of the rota.
  • Potentially rotate into the Radiopharmacy department after training for ad hoc duties.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
  • Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills (NVQ) or equivalent; Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Minimum of two years post-qualification GMP experience.
  • Clear and effective communication, attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures; commitment to patient-centred care.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to work in a cleanroom and office environments; able to work independently and within the team.
Person Specification
  • Experience — Aseptic Unit service delivery with at least two years post-qualification experience; experience in managing outsourcing of chemotherapy and CIVAS products (Desirable).
  • Skills — Numeracy, written and oral communication, leadership, staff development and performance management, problem-solving, time management and ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge — Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality; knowledge of pharmaceutical procedures; radiation protection knowledge (Desirable).
  • Qualifications — Pharmaceutical procedures knowledge to degree or equivalent; recognised accuracy-checking certificate (Desirable).
  • Other — Enthusiastic, able to travel between sites, flexible in working hours.
