Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an HR or Payroll administrator.
  • Strong proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of payroll processes is desired.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-service focus.
  • Flexible, adaptable approach to meet business needs.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Understanding of GDPR principles.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full onboarding process for new starters within SLA and payroll deadlines.
  • Administer all contractual arrangements: appointments, terminations, variations, rewards, and retirement.
  • Create and maintain electronic employee records in line with GDPR.
  • Keep the HR system accurate for period reporting.
  • Support monthly HR statistics reporting on sickness and absence.
  • Oversee the offboarding process before payroll cut-off.
  • Provide first-line HR advice and guidance.
  • Respond to day-to-day queries via the people & payroll inbox.
  • Drive process-improvement projects across the people function.
  • Administer medical records, including pre-employment health surveillance.
  • Assist in recruitment activities.

People Services Assistant

Join our team at Keolis Amey Metrolink (KAM), the largest light rail network in the UK. The People team is recruiting a People Services Assistant to deliver comprehensive HR support across the business.

Key accountabilities
  • Manage the full onboarding process for new starters within SLA and payroll deadlines, ensuring accurate right‑to‑work documentation and offer issuance via DocuSign.
  • Administer all contractual arrangements: appointments, terminations, variations, rewards and retirement.
  • Create and maintain electronic employee records in line with GDPR.
  • Keep the HR system accurate, feeding data into dashboards for period reporting.
  • Support monthly HR statistics reporting on sickness, absence, and leavers, providing analysis to the HR team.
  • Oversee the offboarding process, ensuring all leaver procedures are completed before the monthly payroll cut‑off.
  • Provide first‑line HR advice and guidance, escalating to the People Manager or Business Partners when needed.
  • Respond to day‑to‑day queries via the people & payroll inbox.
  • Drive process‑improvement projects across the people function.
  • Administer medical records, including pre‑employment health surveillance and medication checks.
  • Assist recruitment activities: advertising, shortlisting, scheduling interviews, and organising assessment days.
What you’ll bring
