Job Description

Join UPS as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – East Midlands Airport.

We’re looking for a hands‑on problem solver who thrives in fast‑paced environments and enjoys tackling complex machinery. This role will support our package handling operations in East Midlands Airport.

Shift Rotation
  • Morning shift (06:00 – 14:00)
  • Afternoon shift (14:00 – 22:00)
  • Night shift (22:00 – 06:00)
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Conduct regular inspections and servicing of conveyor systems to identify and address potential issues before they lead to breakdowns.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on conveyor and facility systems.
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, including bearings, belts, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in sortation equipment.
  • Assist in the installation of new machinery or facility equipment when required.
  • Respond promptly to equipment failures, diagnosing and rectifying faults to minimize downtime.
  • Analyze root causes of recurring issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify opportunities for enhancing equipment performance and reliability.
  • Participate in projects aimed at upgrading or optimizing sortation systems within the facility.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including service reports and fault logs.
  • Provide detailed shift reports to supervisors, highlighting completed tasks and any outstanding issues.
  • Adhere to and promote health and safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Monitor the performance and condition of mechanical assets, recommending replacements or upgrades as necessary.
Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 and above in related engineering.
  • Equipment maintenance experience including mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics and welding – Preferred.
  • Proficiency in fault‑finding and repair of mechanical systems, including conveyor belts, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience in using SCADA systems and other diagnostic tools for troubleshooting – Added advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
