Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Performance Nutritionist to deliver integrated support in-line with the Academy Performance nutrition strategy. You will play a key role in supporting the implementation of the Academy Performance Strategy by delivering evidence‑led nutritional support that enhances player health and performance. A central part of the role involves providing bespoke guidance for healthy and injured athletes, ensuring interventions are aligned with their individual performance goals. You will also contribute to a culture of high‑performance by leading education initiatives that elevate nutrition awareness and healthy behaviours across the PDP.

Your Impact

1. Provide collaborative & integrated performance nutrition support to PDP squads and individuals that supports adaptation, health & performance, and recovery

2. Deliver targeted support to identified players as required to optimise individual development.

3. Ensure all injured players have integrated performance nutrition support aligned to injury rehabilitation & RTP goals.

4. Work collaboratively with the Academy Head Chef, catering team and the wider MDT to optimise the food environment and ensure food provision is aligned to fuelling needs.

5. Ensure all PDP players are profiled & monitored consistently to identify and prioritise insights that drive objective individual support plans.

6. Deliver planned and targeted educational input to support optimal healthy behaviours and understanding of effective performance nutrition.

7. Provide timely reporting and updates to key stakeholders on player progress / status.

8. Working with the Performance Nutrition Lead, ensure the Nutrition budget is well managed to enable consistent strategic & operational delivery of the Academy Performance nutrition service.

What we are looking for
Essential

Undergraduate degree & postgraduate degree in relevant subject.

  • SENr accreditation or equivalent
  • ISAK level 1
  • FA Emergency Aid qualification
  • UKAD Clean Sport Advisor certification
  • Significant knowledge in the areas of nutrition support to young athletes
  • Experience delivering high quality nutrition & supplementation programmes / advice to young athletes
  • Experience of utilising principles of nutrition to optimise body composition and support adaptation & recovery in athletes
  • Ability to use both data & expertise to generate actionable insights to inform decision making.
  • Experience working as part of an MDT providing integrated Performance Nutrition support in elite sport
  • Committed and open-minded individual who is proactive enjoys the challenge of working with diverse teams of experts with humility

  • Willing to self‑evaluate and work towards continuous improvement.
Desirable
  • Previous experience in delivering Performance Nutrition support in an elite football academy.
  • Understanding of growth and maturation principles of youth athletes and how this influences nutritional needs.
  • Experience in developing a planned approach to nutrition support and education delivery.
  • Current FA safeguarding certifications.
