Job description
Overview

Bartshealth is one of the largest acute and community children’s practices in the UK. We recognise the growing needs of the children from the vibrant part of East London and are committed to delivering excellence in specialist treatment, research, education, and care for children. A crucial part in achieving this promise is the future development and investment of the Paediatric Critical Care Unit based at the Royal London Hospital.

The Paediatric Critical Care Unit is an indispensable part of the Children’s service and strategy, ensuring that local children can be treated and cared for in their local hospital. It is also a tertiary referral centre accepting admissions from north east London and further afield to support the increasing demand for Paediatric critical care. Our aim is to increase our outstanding, dynamic team by recruiting experienced, highly motivated children’s nurses with intensive care skills who have experience of caring for critically ill children.

As a Band 6, your main responsibility will be the clinical care of critically ill children, while also having the opportunity to share your knowledge, experience and skills. This position will give you the chance to develop your managerial skills and provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team, ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of individualised family-centred care to children and their families in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.

You will need to thrive in a dynamic environment, be willing to teach junior staff, demonstrate self-motivation and work well in a team. You should demonstrate a commitment to your own professional practice, as well as delivering high quality holistic care, with an emphasis on working in partnership with the children and their families.

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers. The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a fresh course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients. Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together. We strive to live by our WeCare values and are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment where staff treat one another with dignity and respect. We aim to create an equitable working environment where every individual can fulfil their potential.

To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of individualised family centred care to children and their families in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.
