Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Payroll Liaison Officer to ensure payroll runs smoothly and accurately across the Trust, directly supporting the experience of our dedicated staff. We are looking for an experienced payroll advisor who is used to working with complex pay queries and prides themselves on providing an excellent level of customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the main point of contact between Moorfields and our external payroll provider (SBS), ensuring timely and accurate payments for staff.
  • Troubleshoot complex payroll issues and lead process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work closely with HR, Finance, and operational teams, supporting system administration (ESR, HealthRoster) and payroll-related tasks.
  • Support overpayment investigations, payroll analytics, and reporting.
  • Contribute to delivering a hands-on role with real impact—ensuring staff are paid correctly and on time, every time.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Substantial experience with NHS payroll systems, ESR, and outsourced payroll providers.
  • Expert knowledge of payroll procedures, NHS terms and conditions, and payroll legislation (PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, etc.).
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with ESR systems and advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, conditional formatting).
  • Ability to analyse data, solve problems effectively, and communicate complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Highly organised, accurate, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Contract and Working Arrangements

This is a part-time role (22.5 hours) to support our existing payroll liaison officer. There is flexibility on when the hours can be worked within the week as long as there is consistent support for incoming payroll queries.
