About the role

This role will be to work with the Payroll and Pensions Manager to provide effective support, and to provide effective cover when required, for the processing of the payroll and pensions to service a multi-campus GFE College.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the day to day running of the payroll function, which includes salary, pensions and expenses, starters, leavers, contract changes and tax code changes - with due regard to employment legislation and college policies and procedures.
  • Follow and ensure payroll processes have sufficient financial controls in place and operate within the College’s Financial Regulations and Financial Procedures.
  • Ensure accurate monthly and annual returns are completed for all pension schemes, and all deadlines met.
  • To advise managers, HR and staff on a range of payroll and pension issues.
  • To work with the payroll system providers to ensure the correct system setup, to support the development of the system to improve utilisation and to improve reporting.
  • To be knowledgeable on Pension legislation and the operation of the College’s pension schemes.
  • To work with the Payroll and Pensions Manager, to ensure the College discharges its obligations in relation to employees’ pension arrangements and compliance with current pensions legislation and the rules of the schemes administered by the College.
  • To maintain an appropriate level of technical knowledge in payroll and pension matters and develop and maintain a sufficient level of skill to utilise all relevant College systems.
  • Support both internal and external audits.
  • Assist the Payroll and Pensions Manager with any ad hoc tasks as required.
