Qualifications

Role Overview

The Hospital Palliative Care Team (HPCT) at Nottingham University Hospitals sees approximately 2,000 patients a year across both campuses. This Band 7 registered nurse role, based in adult areas, provides specialist palliative care and works closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality end‑of‑life services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist palliative care services to patients with life‑limiting illnesses and their carers.
  • Deliver education and support to all members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
  • Develop and conduct clinical audit and research related to palliative care, incorporating change management.
  • Lead on strategic and clinical development of local palliative care services in line with national and regional strategies.
  • Support excellence in end‑of‑life care and collaborate with specialist palliative care teams across NUH and community services.
  • Offer specialist advice, guidance, and supervision to a caseload of patients/carers with complex symptom control and psychosocial support needs.
  • Identify and lead developments in nursing practice, targeting clinical audit and research opportunities.
  • Model and provide clinical leadership through support, guidance, and education to staff across various care settings.
  • Maintain close working relationships with statutory and voluntary agencies involved in specialist palliative care.

Salary & Employment Details

Salary is quoted on a pro‑rated basis for part‑time workers. Band 7 salary ranges are available upon request and are consistent with NHS pay scales.
