Reports to: Production Manager

Job Purpose

Maintain and exceed standards required in packaging for BRC. To ensure the smooth running of the packaging line. Ensure product is correctly packed, stacked, labelled and stored. To clean to the highest standards. Complete all tasks required and as requested.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Start-up packaging area and check all belts and machinery for any damage before starting, also check cleanliness of line before production begins.
  2. Monitor packaging area making any changes across the line that are needed to keep the product safe and in spec throughout the shift.
  3. Complete paperwork every hour measuring temperatures of the pasta and of the cold store.
  4. Keep packaging line clean and tidy throughout the shift.
  5. To report any problems on the downtime sheet or to report any problems to management if its serious and putting the product in danger.
  6. To shut down the packaging machinery and to clean any debris off the floor and make sure all pallets are put away and doors are shut to cold store or to clean once production has finished if you re running the nightshift.
  7. Participate in staff meetings as and when required.
  8. Ensure that the changing area in high care is kept tidy and equipped with disposables (hair nets, shoe covers etc.)
  9. Assist the Night Shift Supervisor/ Technical Manager for site visits and audits
  10. Work alongside and encourage any contracted agency worker to meet cleaning requirements and that they are actioned in such a way that they meet required standards
  11. To effectively carry out hygiene operations, internal and external, in such a manner as to ensure that storage areas and equipment where required is stripped, cleaned, and reassembled in accordance with recognised procedures, practices, always maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, including health and safety so as to continually produce safe food
  12. Perform variety of tasks including safe and correct use of chemicals, deep clean, pot wash operations or compacter use (training will be provided to perform all the tasks)
  13. Be responsible for site deep cleaning to the required levels, with use of cleaning instructions and schedules to ensure microbiological standards achieve for safe production environment.
  14. In case the night shift supervisor is unable to do the ATP swabs, ensure ATP swabs are taken.
  15. Any other tasks as required.
