Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this role provides you with hybrid working, you’ll spend 3 days a week working from our Peterborough or London office.

Shape the future of water resilience through world-class organisational design

Join us at Anglian Water as we embark on one of the most ambitious infrastructure programmes in our history. The Reservoirs Programme – delivering two new multi-billion-pound raw water reservoirs in Lincolnshire and the Fens – is the largest and most complex project we’ve ever undertaken. These nationally significant schemes will secure the region’s water supply for generations to come and represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape the future of water resilience in the East of England.

As Organisational Design Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the structure and capabilities needed to successfully deliver this transformation. Working within our Transformation team, you’ll lead the organisational design of a new delivery entity – the ‘shadow Infrastructure Provider (IP)’ – ensuring it evolves from today’s programme structure into a fully established organisation, ready to design, build, and ultimately deliver these reservoirs.

This is a unique opportunity to bring your expertise in organisational design to a ground-breaking programme, influencing how we establish the right capabilities, structures, and supply chain partnerships at each stage of development.

As Organisational Design Lead, you will:

  • Define and build the organisational capability and capacity needed to deliver each phase of the Reservoirs Programme.

  • Lead the design and implementation of the OD transformation plan, including governance structures and business case development.

  • Shape and support the recruitment of the leadership of the new ‘shadow IP’, working closely with HR and recruitment partners.

  • Manage relationships with senior stakeholders and external advisors, ensuring alignment, collaboration, and delivery of objectives.

  • Embed organisational change effectively across the programme and ensure benefits are measurable, reported, and realised.

What does it take to be an Organisational Design Lead?

We’re looking for a highly organised and collaborative leader with exceptional planning and communication skills. You’ll be adept at building trusted relationships, influencing diverse stakeholders, and shaping compelling business cases, whilst bringing pragmatism, creativity and problem-solving to drive innovative organisational design that will shape the future of the business.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Relevant experience and personal attributes are key in this role but degree qualification in a relevant topic will be helpful

  • A recognised Project Management qualification is preferable but not essential

  • Experience in people change transformation projects on large complex programmes in a commercial environment

  • Experience and knowledge of change management methodologies and tools

  • Significant experience in designing and facilitating stakeholder workshops

As a valued employee, you’ll be entitled to:

  • Personal private health care

  • 26 days annual leave – rising with length of service

  • Flexible working

  • Competitive pension scheme – Anglian Water double-matches your contributions up to 6%

  • Bonus scheme

  • Flexible benefits to support your wellbeing and lifestyle

Why join us?

This is a rare opportunity to play a defining role in one of the UK’s most ambitious water infrastructure programmes. As Organisational Design Lead, you’ll be at the heart of creating a new delivery organisation from the ground up – shaping its structure, leadership, and capability to deliver a once-in-a-generation programme.

At Anglian Water, you’ll join a purpose-led business recognised for innovation, sustainability, and its commitment to communities. You’ll work alongside industry-leading experts, enjoy the scope to influence at the highest levels, and see your work make a lasting impact on water security for millions of people.
