Qualifications

Job description
Overview

We have the opportunity to employ a candidate to our Ophthalmic technician role for 22.5 hours, comprising 2 days 8am‑6pm and one day at 8am‑5.30pm every other week on a make‑up shift. The role is highly specialised with diagnostic machinery running within ophthalmology; previous knowledge is welcomed but not essential, as training will be provided. The candidate will also spend time in the clinic learning how to conduct eye tests for patients that feed into the technician role and will assist the nurse injector within intravitreal injections as a circulating team member. The salary starts at Band 2 during training and moves to Band 3 upon completion. Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship. Performing tests on patients following the appropriate training and signing off within the department against our competency booklets, which are provided.

Responsibilities
  • Run Visual fields lists.
  • Run OCT lists.
  • Run Optos lists.
  • Run Anterion lists.
  • Support colleagues within the team.
  • Work within the clinic setting.
  • Work within injection lists as the circulator.
  • Assist patients as required.
  • Manage scans of patients on the Zeiss Visual field machine, Heidelberg OCT machine, Anterion corneal scanner and the Optos fundus camera.
  • Main communicator with patients undergoing diagnostic tests and treatment.
