About the Role

As an Operations Administrator at the University of Derby, you\'ll play a central role in supporting the smooth running of our security operations. Working closely with the duty Operations Controller, you\'ll help manage CCTV, access control, car parking and incident reporting, while coordinating resources to maintain a safe and welcoming environment. This varied role combines operational support with key administrative responsibilities, offering the opportunity to make a real difference to the safety of our students, staff and visitors.

About You

You\'ll be someone who thrives in a busy and varied role, able to stay calm and organised when priorities change. With a background in customer service, administration or security, you\'ll bring strong communication skills and the confidence to deal with people at all levels. You will have experience of managing information accurately, producing clear reports, and using IT systems effectively. Just as important is your ability to think on your feet, solve problems quickly, and work well as part of a team. If you\'ve previously supported operations, coordinated services, or worked in environments where safety and service are key, you\'ll be well suited to this role. Above all, you will be motivated, adaptable, and committed to providing an excellent experience for our University community.

Responsibilities
  • Support the smooth operation of security services, including CCTV, access control and incident reporting.
  • Coordinate resources and communicate with the Duty Operations Controller.
  • Assist with car parking management and safety/compliance tasks.
  • Produce accurate information and clear reports; maintain records and IT system usage.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Background in customer service, administration or security.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to stay calm, organised and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience with information management and IT systems.
