Occupational Therapist – SEND Service

Location: Gloucestershire

Specialism: Children’s Occupational Therapy / SEND

Salary: £35.00 per hour

Hours: Part Time – 3 days per week (25 hours per week)

Contract Type: Fixed Term (until March 2026)

Start Date: ASAP

Gloucestershire’s SEND Service is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This part‑time role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute specialist OT expertise within an educational and statutory framework, ensuring children receive the support they need to thrive.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience working with children with SEND and be confident producing high‑quality reports for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). A strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory duties is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse caseload of children and young people, including those with complex disabilities, delivering occupationally focused assessments, intervention, and detailed reports.
  • Provide expert advice and specialist clinical input into EHCP processes, including offering second opinions where OT provision is contested.
  • Act as the Lead Occupational Therapist for SEND appeals and tribunal processes, bringing advanced knowledge of complex cases within an educational context.
  • Work collaboratively with the EHCP Team, education settings, families, and wider stakeholders, contributing to appeals as an expert witness where required.
  • Ensure all assessments and documentation meet statutory requirements and are aligned with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Promote high‑quality, child‑centred practice focused on improving occupational engagement, participation, and functional outcomes.
Essential Requirements
