Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our kitchen team in the role of Nursery Cook. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for food. The successful candidate will play a vital role in menu planning, food preparation, and ensuring that nutritious and balanced meals are prepared for the children.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in menu planning to create diverse and appealing meal options.
  • Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and dietary guidelines.
  • Ensure all food handling practices comply with safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain an efficient workflow during meal service.
  • Manage food inventory, including ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.
Skills
  • Background in menu planning, food preparation, and cooking techniques desirable but not essential.
  • Be willing to undertake training and upskill knowledge as required.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations.
  • Experience in food service or restaurant environments is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently whilst working to a timescale.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members effectively.
  • A commitment to providing high-quality meals.
  • Would suit someone looking to work around school drop off/pick up. Hours can be discussed at interview.
  • The successful candidate will start on 16 hours (Wed-Friday) with the view to increase to 25 hours (Mon-Fri) in January 2026.
