Job summary

A leading engineering staffing provider in Aberdeen is seeking a New Product Development Testing Engineer. You will manage NPD testing facilities and perform design verification and function testing of downhole tools. Job description

NES Fircroft are supporting an Oilfield services client in Aberdeen with a New Product Development Testing Engineer role.

Based on site, you will be responsible for the management of our client's NPD testing facilities and the development of them to support the company transition towards becoming the market leader in CT well intervention and well barriers.

Becoming an expert on their selection of downhole tools, you will perform design verification & function testing and aid in the development of prototype and existing products, along with providing customers with practical support and training in tool operation, maintenance and application.

Key responsibilities
  • Undertake function and validation testing against industry performance standards, such as ISO and API
  • Lead pre-commercial and early in-field customer deployments of new products
  • Support in the design and review of new products and attend and participate in design reviews
  • Assist in the evaluation of product viability
  • Be willing to travel nationally and internationally to provide in person support for DTI products in the workshop and in the field
  • Provide technical support to the organisation as a whole in order to maximise the level of service the organisation can supply to the customer
Experience required
  • Strong technical background with mechanical engineering qualification
  • Demonstrable experience of well intervention, completion. P&A and artificial lift operations and technology
  • Experience in providing test reports with clear outcomes and recommendations
  • Must be able to clearly articulate technical principles and tool functionality and application
  • Must be able to listen to customer problems, extract key constraints and develop solutions from existing products, or if none exist to suggest new products to engineering
  • Experience of international travel and different business cultures would be an advantage
