A specialist medical cannabis clinic in Leicester is seeking a Non-Medical Prescriber to deliver patient-centred care. The successful candidate will assess and prescribe treatment for patients with chronic or complex conditions. Job description

The Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) plays a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care within a specialist medical cannabis clinic. The post-holder will assess, manage, and prescribe treatment for patients with chronic or complex conditions where medical cannabis may be indicated, working within their professional scope and regulatory guidelines. This role requires clinical expertise, regulatory awareness, and a strong focus on patient education and therapeutic outcomes.

Main duties of the job
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments for patients referred for medical cannabis therapy.
  • Prescribe safely and appropriately in line with MHRA and GMC/NMC/HCPC standards.
  • Monitor patient progress, review treatment plans, and adjust prescriptions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure safe prescribing governance.
  • Provide clear patient education on dosing, usage, and side effects.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage medication queries via phone/email and oversee repeat prescriptions on Script Assist.
  • Stay updated on developments in cannabis-based medicines and regulatory guidance.
  • Contribute to audits, governance, and quality improvement initiatives.

CB1 Medical is a private medical clinic that specialises in the prescribing of medical cannabis for patients with chronic pain or mental health conditions. Our service is delivered to patients in a remote clinic setting (Telemedicine) and our administration team are office based in Hathern, Leicestershire and Chandigarh, India

CB1 Pharmacy is an online pharmacy that dispenses private medical cannabis prescriptions, their main customer is CB1 Medical, but they do also dispense medication for patients from other medical cannabis clinics.

Job responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients referred for medical cannabis treatment.
  • Prescribe medical cannabis where clinicallyappropriate, in line with MHRA and GMC/NMC/HCPC guidelines.
  • Monitor patient progress, review treatment plans, and adjust prescriptions based on therapeutic response and side effects.
  • Ensure safe prescribing practices andmaintainaccurate, up-to-date clinical records.
  • Provide clear information, support, and education to patients about medical cannabis use, dosage, and potential side effects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, including physicians, pharmacists, and patient support staff.
  • Manage any queries relating to medication managementeither by email oronthe phone.
  • Manage the repeat prescriptions on Script Assist to ensure allqueriesareresolved
  • Stay informed about developments in cannabis-based medicines, evidence-based guidelines, and regulatory changes.
