Job description
Overview

Home Instead is the UK's number one home care brand. We support individuals in the local community with care and companionship at home. We're proud to support our clients to promote their independence and dignity. Some of our clients like to have the reassurance of somebody staying in their home during the night. Our night shift Care Assistants have access to their own private room to stay in within the client's property within the Gloucester area.

Night shift details

We are looking for new Care Assistants to join our team who are available for night shifts of nine hours (typically 10pm-7am) to provide support at our client's homes. These visits will be with the same client to support their independence at home, helping them feel secure and remain dignified in their later years. The support you will provide may include:

Responsibilities
  • Companionship, social support and reassurance. Chatting to clients about their day, their experiences and their interests.
  • Help with food preparation and medication administration if required. Helping ensure the client remains nourished, hydrated and on top of their medication.
  • Mobility support to ensure they move safely around their home.
  • Continence and personal hygiene support to help them remain comfortable and well, promoting skin integrity.
Qualifications

There aren't any qualifications required to become a Care Assistant, though for night workers a year's experience in care is preferred. Must have a means of transport as clients are cared for in their own homes and can live in remote areas of Gloucester not accessible by public transport.

Benefits
  • Comprehensive training provided with personal and professional development opportunities, including the opportunity to enrol in NVQ L2 or L3. Care Assistants complete full training and shadowing visits with existing members of clients' teams before attending visits independently.
  • Continuity of night visits with the same client, allowing you to build a trusting relationship.
  • Competitive pay: £122 per wake night plus a guaranteed holiday pay and travel allowance.
  • A dedicated manager and 24-hour on-call support from our friendly and professional office team. There is always someone at the end of the phone, day and night.
  • Employee Assistance Programme - a 24-hour confidential helpline to provide support through any of life's issues or problems.
