Hiring Manager: Simon Beales
Contract: 42 hours per week

Are you ready to take the next step in your leadership journey? We’re looking for a dynamic and proactive individual to join our team—someone who thrives on collaboration, leads by example, and is passionate about driving performance and quality.

In this role, you’ll support and assist management while leading a high-performing team with energy and integrity. You’ll foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement, ensuring smooth operations and effective collaboration across the board. With a strong grasp of Cadent’s Core Policies and Procedures, you’ll champion our values and help shape a customer-focused, forward-thinking environment.

If you're inquisitive, solutions-driven, and committed to delivering brilliant results, we want to hear from you.

Why You'll Love This Role:

  • Project Delivery & Compliance Lead and manage E&I projects and upgrades across Cadent operational sites, ensuring full compliance with business plan targets, G/17 processes, SCO procedures, and safety/environmental legislation.
  • Planning, Design & Documentation Support the full range of planning and design activities, maintain accurate site drawings and asset records, and prepare essential documentation including NROs, RAMS, and business cases (T002/DPSC).
  • Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with cross-functional teams—Asset Investment, Energy Operations, Safety & Engineering, Finance—and liaise with Network Control, ECC, and contractors to ensure competent resource deployment and effective project execution.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting Track and report project spend against forecasts, ensure timely cost capture, monitor CDM/SCCF compliance, and oversee contract and sub-contract adherence.
  • Operational Support & Best Practice Provide technical support to Area Managers, participate in pre-start meetings and standby rota, promote consistency and best practice, and ensure all activities meet design standards, cyber policies, and data capture requirements.
  • Site Management & Contractor Coordination Act as Cadent’s delivery interface on-site, managing day-to-day construction activities. Monitor health and safety practices, review method statements, coordinate testing and inspections, ensure permit systems are implemented, and track site progress while identifying and reporting defects.

What You'll Bring:

  • Qualifications & Certifications HNC/SNVQ/NVQ or equivalent in network engineering techniques. Desirable certifications: SCO AE & CP, NEBOSH/IOSH, EL6, and CompEx EX01–EX04, TEM 2 & 4. Full UK driving licence required.
  • Industry Experience 3+ years of experience, ideally in gas industry engineering project delivery. Strong understanding of contract management and gas plant/process systems.
  • Technical Expertise In-depth knowledge of E&I technical standards, maintenance procedures, and relevant legislation. Familiarity with codes of practice, engineering instructions, and safety regulations.
  • Systems & Tools Proficiency Competent in telemetry systems, RTU software, satellite/radio communications, gas pre-heating, and safety instrumented systems. Able to provide technical support to third parties across system areas.
  • Teamwork & Leadership Proven ability to work within and contribute to high-performing teams.

We have a clear roadmap to drive our performance to the forefront of our industry and support the UK government in achieving its net zero targets by 2050. We are making a difference through innovation and new ways of working. Together, we are shaping a cleaner, greener future for our 11 million customers.

What’s In It for You

We offer annual bonus, pension scheme double matched up to a total of 18% of salary, 25 days holiday, plus statutory days, and an option to buy more, an extra day off each year to celebrate life’s special moments, career development with funded learning options, flexible working and strong ED&I commitments, generous family policies and flexible benefits, retail discounts, gym access, and more.
