Overview

An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for a Network Controller to join our Traffcom service on a permanent basis.

NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on sustainable transport, place making and delivering essential city services.

Position Details

Located within the Glasgow Operations Centre, you will be involved in the operation of Glasgow City Council's traffic control and driver information systems and other network management /control systems.

You must have good communication skills, be logical and methodical with the ability to cope with pressure. Excellent IT skills, knowledge of using complex computer systems and being capable of taking responsibility and making operational decisions is essential.

An HND/HNC or equivalent in a technical or science discipline, previous experience in the operation of traffic control/monitoring systems and an understanding of traffic control systems is essential. A flexible approach to working irregular hours to meet the needs of the Service is also required.

Contract Details

Weekly Hours: 37 hours per week plus an average of 0.33 hours contractual overtime per week

Work Pattern: The work pattern will consist of rota working on one of the following patterns, with the exact pattern to be confirmed at the point of offer:

  • 5 days early (07:00 - 15:30), 2 days off, 5 days late (15:30 - 00:00), 3 days off, repeated; or,
  • 4 days early (07:00 - 18:30), 4 days off, 4 days late (12:30 - 00:00), 4 days off, repeated.

Annual Salary: £43,956.89 - £51,154.27 on an incremental scale

Additional Payments: In addition to the annual salary the role attracts a non-standard work pattern/hours (NSWPH) payment of £10,930 per annum.
