Overview

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading power generation company to recruit a Multi-Skilled Technician with Electrical bias for their Biomass site in Chester. The Multi-Skilled Technician role comes with a starting salary of up to £50,000 + benefits. Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment across the power station.
  • Prioritise electrical maintenance tasks while supporting basic mechanical activities when required.
  • Diagnose, repair, and test electrical faults on motors, drives, switchgear, and auxiliary systems.
  • Assist during plant outages and shutdowns, ensuring safe and timely completion of maintenance work.
  • Inspect and maintain electrical assets to comply with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Support site safety initiatives, including hazard reporting and participation in incident investigations.
  • Update maintenance records and work orders accurately within the CMMS.
  • Follow electrical procedures and safe systems of work, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
  • Identify and report equipment reliability issues and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to maintain plant availability and performance.
Qualifications
  • Holds a level 3 qualification and is apprentice trained in relevant subject.
  • A further engineering qualification, such as a HNC is desirable.
  • At least three years' experience in maintenance, in a heavy process environment/sector or similar (e.g. power station, chemical plant, paper mill, refinery, steel works etc).
  • Ideally an IOSH or Health & Safety Qualification.
Personal skills
  • Ability to carry out lone-working and self-motivated.
  • Has a problem-solving attitude and works efficiently.
  • Takes a proactive approach to prevent faults.
Salary and benefits
  • Competitive salary between £45,000 and £50,000.
