Job description
Overview

Nelson Permanent Placements are working with our client recruiting for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a well-established company in West Bromwich who are global market leading Electrical Manufacturer producing products widely used in a number of sectors including Commercial & Industrial, Nuclear, Transportation, Data centre & energy across the world.

You will be responsible for keeping equipment and machinery running, handling breakdowns, and completing planned maintenance. This role supports the efficiency and growth of manufacturing and processing by improving production facilities and new installations. They work to minimise costly breakdowns and enhance the reliability and safety of the plant, staff, and processes.

Responsibilities
  • Experienced in mechanical and electrical disciplines, including fault diagnosis, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and working with PLC inputs/outputs.
  • Skilled in working with robot and welding cells, plastic injection and extrusion, presses, and rolling mills.
  • Competent in using MEWP and interpreting engineering drawings and principles.
  • Strong knowledge of safe working practices, health and safety legislation, and the ability to work quickly under pressure while managing a varied workload.
  • Use specialist equipment knowledge to diagnose and repair breakdowns, carry out planned preventative maintenance, and record any issues or trends.
  • Provide electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis and technical support to ensure reliable production.
  • Work within the engineering team to promote best practice and achieve departmental KPIs.
  • Complete all maintenance tasks, including emergency breakdown response, to high standards within set timeframes, maintaining accurate records.
  • Operate hand and measuring tools safely for installation, calibration, and modification of plant and equipment.
  • Handle materials correctly and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions promptly and liaise with internal departments and external clients.
  • Fit new parts, fix faults, arrange replacements, and keep production managers informed of progress.
  • Perform scheduled machine checks, cleaning, lubrication, overhauls, and part replacements as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 Electrical/Mechanical, with 17th Edition Electrical certification and able to work with PLC inputs and outputs.
  • Be able to comply with and promote company values.
  • Knowledgeable in setting and running extrusion corrugation machines.
  • Able to work as part of a team and as an individual.
  • Motivation to beat targets safely and to required quality standards.
Benefits
  • Annual salary of £44,300 - £45,600 (including 25% shift allowance). Hours of work will be 39 hours per week: Working Sunday to Wednesday 10pm - 6am & Thursday 10pm - 5am
