Overview

Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer Opportunity - UK Manufacturer (Alconbury Site)

Join one of the UK's top horticultural groups, a market leader in gardening products for both amateur and professional gardeners. This bus iness boasts over 750 employees. We are recruiting a Maintenance Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team supporting a high-volume production environment focused on fertilisers and chemicals.

Responsibilities
  • Prioritise breakdown response and keep communication lines open (walkie-talkie provided).
  • Conduct regular PPMs and monthly safety checks (e.g. emergency lighting, LEV systems).
  • Troubleshoot and repair machinery across electrical and mechanical systems (motors, gearboxes, bearings, etc.).
  • Support with basic PLC fault-finding, fabrication, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Maintain on-site facilities including lighting, plumbing, compressors, and waste systems.
  • Assist with production setups when needed, especially during peak periods.
Candidate Profile
  • A safety-first mindset and attention to detail.
  • Strong diagnostic skills with a methodical approach to fault-finding.
  • Basic electrical qualifications, City and Guilds level 3 and 18th edition.
  • Hands-on experience in both electrical and mechanical maintenance.
  • Ability to remain productive during downtime by supporting project work and site upkeep.
