Brief Description

Deliver prompt and effective response to all real-time Railway Operations and front-line response activities.

About the role (External)

In this front-line role, you will be responsible for delivering prompt and effective responses to accidents and incidents on a section of the railway. You will help fix issues and, through investigation and reporting, support understanding of how to prevent similar events in the future.

You may be required to take on the role of Rail Incident Officer, overseeing the establishment of a command structure and leading the coordination of infrastructure and service restoration activities. You will also carry out a broad range of operational support duties, from performance monitoring and weather-related contingency planning to audit and engineering work, stores ordering and vehicle monitoring.

Essential Criteria
  • Rail Incident Officer and Personal Track Safety training
  • The ability to learn, understand and implement rules and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing
  • Strong, logical decision-making skills
  • A full driving licence
  • Self-motivated and assertive
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise duties effectively
  • This role involves days, nights and weekend working, and is a safety-critical role so subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment
  • You may also be required to carry out signalling duties as part of the MOM role and may be invited to undertake a signalling assessment as part of your application
  • The successful applicant will be required to attend a 7-week training course as part of your induction

Salary: SUP 7 - £51,819 per annum. Closing date: 8 October 2025. There are 2 positions available.
