Are you a skilled Building Technician with a passion for delivering high-quality maintenance and repair work? NHS Frimley Health Foundation Trust is looking for a motivated and reliable Estates Building Technician to join our dedicated Estates team based in Slough.

As an Estates Building Technician, you will work autonomously to carry out planned, corrective, and emergency maintenance on the Trust's buildings and grounds. Your expertise in carpentry, joinery, painting, decorating, and minor building repairs will be essential in ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This varied role also includes small project works and adaptations to internal spaces, requiring a hands-on approach and a keen eye for detail.

Main duties of the job

Deliver minor repair works and general carpentry and joinery maintenance to a high standard.

Undertake internal and external painting and decorating duties across Trust properties.

Erect access equipment safely, with appropriate training and competency.

Diagnose and repair faults in building structures, including roofs and finishes.

Manage materials ordering through the Trust's systems and maintain accurate records.

Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Respond promptly to emergencies, carrying a communication device at all times.

Assist with small internal alterations from concept through to completion.

Collaborate with team leaders and escalate tasks when necessary.

Qualifications
  • Recognised Trade Apprenticeship or level 2 City &Guilds Craft Certificate
  • Level 3 City Guilds Craft Certificate, or equivalent
Experience
  • To have relevant previous working experience within the building trades..
  • Experience of working within a large industrial/ commercial environment.
  • To be a competent person on the safe use of mobile access platform ( PASMA) to be a qualified competent person in the safe operation of workshop tools under PUWER 1998.
  • Experience of working in an Acute Hospital Environment.
  • Competent person to erect portable tower scaffolding
Computer Literacy
  • Basic IT skills
  • Good computer skills, able to research product and order materials
