Job summary

A leading consultancy firm is seeking a Microsoft Purview Specialist to lead information protection and data governance across the Microsoft 365 estate. This remote role requires extensive experience in designing information protection models within complex, regulated environments. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of M365 security features and will help implement compliance standards. Occasional travel to the Brussels office is necessary, making excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential.

Microsoft Purview Specialist

One of our clients, a blue chip company is currently looking to recruit a hands-on MS Purview SME for a major M365 cloud transformation (regulated environment). You will lead information protection and data governance across the Microsoft 365 estate (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online) in a highly regulated, multi-classification environment.

Responsibilities will include:-

• Design and implement a label-driven information protection model to replace traditional air-gapped environments.
• Architect a sensitivity label taxonomy and policies that drive access control, encryption, DLP, and sharing across all M365 workloads.
• Implement container-level and item-level labels (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange) that govern guest access, external sharing, device access and session controls.
• Automate classification and labelling where possible, while keeping collaboration fast and intuitive for end users.
• Help us evidence continuous compliance and accreditation: reporting, audit trails, policy tuning, and control design.
• Build capability in the wider team through knowledge transfer, playbooks and standards.

You might be a fit if you've:

• Designed and rolled out Purview Information Protection at scale in a complex or regulated environment.
• Worked deeply with M365 security & compliance (Purview portal, DLP, Conditional Access, Defender, eDiscovery, retention, insider risk).
• Replaced or rationalised Legacy segregated/air-gapped environments using labels, policies, and conditional access.
• Sat in the middle of security, compliance, and product/collaboration teams and can balance risk with usability.

You must be an excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills and easy to work with.

If you have SC Clearance then this is also highly advantage.

This role is remote but with the occasional travel to their Brussels office.
