Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker

Location: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary

Hours: Various

Shift Pattern: Predominantly 12 hours shifts and full day/ night/ weekend rotation

Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) is the largest hospital in the North East of Scotland and is also one of Scotland’s Major Trauma Centres. An exciting opportunity had arisen for Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Workers to join the teams who work on the ARI site. ARI consists of two portfolios of care. These are the Medicine and Unscheduled Care Portfolio and the Integrated Specialist Care Portfolio.

The Medicine and Unscheduled Care Portfolio consists of the Unscheduled Care Pathway (Emergency Department, Acute Medical Initial Assessment) and short stay medicine. The medicine pathway consists of speciality wards including gastroenterology, diabetes and endocrinology, cardiology, respiratory, renal, infectious diseases, acute stroke, palliative medicine and general medicine.

The Integrated Specialist Care Portfolio consists of critical care, theatres, burns and plastic surgery, urology, ENT and Max Fax, short stay theatres, general surgery, neurology, vascular, ophthalmology cardiothoracic, orthopaedics, haematology and oncology

The role involves delivering safe, effective and person centred care under the supervision of registered nurses, supporting individuals with complex needs, carrying out delegated tasks such as NEWS scoring, wound care and completion of documentation as well as the ability to use digital systems.

These are exciting opportunities to join our acute nursing team in NHS Grampian. We are looking for individuals who strive to deliver the highest standard of person centred care. A caring and compassionate nature is essential as well as a willingness to be involved in change and new ways of working. Successful candidates will be supported to complete the HCSW competency booklet and will be allocated a suitable preceptor to ensure they are welcomed and suitably supported in the role.
