We are a busy GP Surgery that operates over 3 sites located in central Middlesbrough and Thorntree estate, offering first class patient-centred primary care to a combined list size of circa 13,000 patients.

Job responsibilities

JobSummary:

  • To offer general assistance to the practice team and project apositive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either inperson or via the telephone.

  • To undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in thesmooth running of the practice.

JobResponsibilities:

  • Dealing with patient queries by telephone, in person andelectronically in a timely and effective manner in a busy officeenvironment
  • Receiving and making telephone calls as necessary.
  • Conveying messages from patients and members of the primary healthcare team in an accurate and timely manner
  • Entering requests for appointments or home visits onto GP or NursePractitioner call-back lists, ensuring relevance and accuracy ofinformation recorded.
  • Providing information to patients regarding relevant services andmaking appointments for members of the health care team
  • Maintaining patient electronic medical records and retrieving ofinformation from the records, where appropriate
  • Constructing medical records for new patients
  • Ensure existing information systems are maintained, to facilitatethe smooth running of the reception area

  • Ensure the kitchen area is kept clean and tidy.
  • To ensure the reception office and waiting area are kept clean andtidy, along with other members of the reception team.
  • The above list of duties is not exhaustive and may be subject tochange as deemed necessary by the Reception Manager or a Practice Manager.

**Allocatedreceptionists are identified and given training in additional duties, such asrepeat prescription processing and actioning incoming correspondence**

  • The early start receptionists are expected to open and make thenecessary preparations to receive patients.
  • The late finish receptionists are expected to ensure that thebuilding is secured towards the end of the day, lights are out and doorsare locked.

  • In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allowus to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and othermatters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staffwill respect their privacy and act appropriately
  • In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description,the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating topatients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers.They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as abusiness organisation.
