Overview

Mechanical Technician in a Military Aircraft environment – Hampshire. £38-£41 per hour Inside IR35. Contract: 6 Months with possible extensions. SC Clearance required (UK Citizenship required).

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join a fast-paced MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) team supporting major UK defence and aerospace programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to work on advanced aircraft systems in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out assembly, disassembly, modification, and repair of aircraft systems, structures, electronics, and components.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems, including pneumatic, hydraulic, and structural components.
  • Deliver work in line with MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MRP Part 145, Quality Assurance (QA), and Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Ensure work meets approved technical standards and contractual requirements within your Responsibility, Accountability, and Authority (RAA).
  • Mentor apprentices or junior staff where required.
  • Be flexible with work locations and schedules to meet programme deadlines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and maintain a positive reporting culture.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Recognised trade apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical/aircraft maintenance training.
  • Knowledge of general aircraft maintenance and aviation processes, including Human Factors, FOD control, tool control, health & safety, and COSHH.
  • Experience in commercial or defence aviation is advantageous.
  • Strong technical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant IT systems.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Work Authorisation & Security Clearance
  • Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • The role requires the ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC); UK residency is required.
