Overview

The Opportunity: Having been awarded several new contracts, this leading well-established M&E Contractor is recruiting for an experienced HVAC Project Engineer.

The Position

As the Project Engineer you will be responsible for leading and growing the HVAC division. This is a hands-on, pivotal role that not only requires technical expertise in installation and project delivery but also strong leadership skills to develop a growing team of engineers.

You will play a key role in managing and delivering a wide variety of mechanical projects—ranging from £5,000 to £500,000 in HVAC-specific scope—within contracts that span a total Mechanical & Electrical value between £30,000 and £1.5 million. You\'ll collaborate closely with their experienced teams of plumbers, electricians, and heating engineers, reporting back to the office team with progress, pricing, and strategic updates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead HVAC installations including ductwork, air conditioning, MVHR, VRF systems, and fan coil units
  • Manage full project lifecycle—from tender and pricing through to commissioning and handover
  • Work alongside project management to ensure seamless integration across plumbing, heating, and electrical services
  • Recruit, develop, and manage a team of HVAC engineers as the department scales
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations and quality standards
  • Travel to project sites as required (80% local, some occasional national travel)
The Person
  • Proven experience in HVAC installation and project delivery
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and coordination in M&E projects
  • Experience pricing and tendering for projects
  • Leadership skills with the desire and capability to grow and mentor a team
  • F-Gas certified and full UK driving licence
  • Competence in basic design calculations and duct sizing
  • Comfortable working across projects of varying size and complexity
  • Strong communication and reporting skills for collaboration with the office team

Certifications Required: Valid F-Gas Certificate, Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable (But Not Essential):

  • Knowledge of renewable technologies such as air source heat pumps and solar integration
  • CAD or system design familiarity
