Mechanical Manager - Ventilation Bias (Healthcare Environment)
Overview

A leading FM service provider is seeking an experienced Mechanical Manager with a strong ventilation background to oversee critical ventilation systems within a major acute hospital environment. This role is integral to maintaining compliance, safety, and performance across a large, complex estate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and support a small engineering team responsible for the maintenance and operation of ventilation and air handling systems (circa 200 assets).
  • Ensure all ventilation systems are maintained to statutory and healthcare standards, delivering a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Oversee isolations, permit control, and safe systems of work (SSOW) for all ventilation‑related activities.
  • Produce high‑quality technical reports, performance summaries, and recommendations for senior stakeholders and the client.
  • Work closely with the projects team, offering technical expertise, guidance, and input into upgrade works and lifecycle improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in asset reliability, compliance, and overall service delivery.
  • Maintain strong communication channels with internal teams, external contractors, and clinical stakeholders.
Experience & Qualifications Required
  • Recognised ventilation qualifications (essential).
  • Strong preference for candidates with healthcare experience and Ventilation AP (Authorised Person) certification – exceptional candidates without these may still be considered.
  • Solid background in mechanical systems, ideally within complex or critical environments.
  • Demonstrable experience leading engineering teams and managing specialist assets.
  • Strong report‑writing skills and confidence presenting information to senior stakeholders.
  • Proven understanding of safe systems of work, permits, isolations, and statutory compliance.
