Westlakes Recruit is currently recruiting for Mechanical Engineers to be engaged on a contract or permanent basis in Cumbria.

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of engineering solutions across nuclear, energy and defence programmes in Cumbria. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically complex projects that support safe, reliable and compliant operations across the full facility lifecycle.

The Role
  • Deliver mechanical engineering design, analysis and technical support across a range of projects.
  • Produce and review engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports.
  • Support safety case development by providing mechanical input to hazard identification and risk assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including safety, electrical and civil engineers.
  • Interface with clients, regulators and stakeholders to support technical decision‑making.
  • Ensure work complies with relevant codes, standards, quality requirements and regulatory expectations.
  • Support project delivery to agreed scope, schedule and budget.
What You'll Bring
