Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Centre Supervisor to join our successful and dynamic Data Centre Solutions team based in London.

This pivotal role requires a strong technical understanding of critical facilities infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and data centre–specific systems. You will be responsible for the inspection, operation, and maintenance of all data centre assets, ensuring the highest standards of reliability, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, inspect, and maintain all mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems, including high-voltage isolations and switching operations.
  • Supervise both planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring all works are delivered safely, compliantly, and on time.
  • Prepare, review, and implement SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, permits to work (PTW), risk assessments, and client change control documentation.
  • Ensure subcontractors fully comply with site procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Review, sign off, and audit subcontractor worksheets and completed works, escalating any quality or performance concerns to the Data Centre Operations Manager.
  • Produce accurate technical reports, asset records, and maintenance documentation, including tracking of critical spares and stock usage.
  • Coordinate critical plant and equipment repairs in collaboration with internal teams, subcontractors, and the Engineering / Technical Services Manager (ESM/TSM).
  • Participate in engineering Quality Assurance (QA) processes to verify the standard of completed works.
  • Promote and uphold Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) standards through hazard reporting, near‑miss investigations, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support, mentor, and develop technicians and apprentices, fostering a positive, safety‑focused, and performance‑driven team culture.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day performance of shift and day teams, including coordination of holiday and sickness cover.
  • Complete role‑specific training in line with the DCS training matrix and actively support continuous professional development.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience working in a data centre or critical environment, or a supervisory role within Facilities Management (FM).
  • HNC/HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or completion of a relevant engineering apprenticeship.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (current).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
  • Proactive, detail‑oriented, and self‑motivated, with the ability to take initiative.
  • Competent IT skills, including experience with maintenance management systems and standard business software.
  • Ability to remain calm, decisive, and focused under pressure, particularly during critical incidents.
  • Flexible approach to work, including attendance at on‑site or off‑site training (with overnight stays where required).
  • Professional, enthusiastic, and committed to maintaining consistently high standards of safety, quality, and performance.
