About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the growing team in Manchester. You\'ll play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical engineering solutions for a range of projects, particularly in the UK water sector.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on various UMON projects, contributing to technically challenging and meaningful infrastructure design work.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver design outputs that meet safety, quality, and client standards
  • Produce design calculations and technical drawings (clean/wastewater focus)
  • Mentor and guide CAD technicians
  • Define scopes and review output from subcontract M&E teams
  • Prepare technical specifications and evaluate supplier bids
  • Carrying out design investigations and producing engineering reports
  • Ensure designs adhere to all relevant standards and regulations
  • Track design changes and manage scope
  • Estimate resource requirements for design packages
  • Attend and present at client and design meetings
What They Are Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years\' mechanical design experience (UK water industry)
  • Degree, HND or equivalent experience
  • Strong IT skills
  • Professionally registered and working towards chartership
Desirable
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng)
  • Experience with UMON schemes
  • Hydraulic design experience
  • Clean and wastewater experience (infrastructure and non-infrastructure)
  • Understanding of construction practices and materials
  • Strong grasp of engineering drawing standards

Salary

Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 (DOE)

Holidays
  • You are entitled to 23 days per year leave plus 8 days public and bank holidays.
  • Additional holiday will be rewarded for service after 2 years on 31st December at the rate of 1 day per year. This is up to a maximum of 5 days on 31st December after 7 complete years\' service (pro rata for part-time staff).
  • You may also buy up to one working week of holidays (5 days for full time and pro-rated for part time staff).
  • Payment for these holidays will be deducted from your salary between January and December.
Pension
  • 4% employee contribution (after tax) 1% tax relief on the employee contribution
  • 4% employer contribution by company
  • Total 9% pension contribution
