Job description
Maths Teacher - Join the Heart of the Community in Wigan!

Are you a talented Maths Teacher (QTS) looking to bring your skills to a town known for its resilience, spirit, and heritage? We are seeking an enthusiastic educator to join the mathematics faculty at a respected Secondary School in Wigan.

If you have a passion for numbers and the ability to motivate students in the home of the "World Pie Eating Championship" and the historic Wigan Pier, we want to hear from you!

The Role: Calculating Success in Greater Manchester

This is a brilliant opportunity for a proactive QTS Maths Teacher to take on a temporary or contract role (such as a long-term sickness cover or maternity leave) in Wigan.

Schools in the Wigan borough pride themselves on their community feel and their drive for academic improvement. You will be responsible for ensuring that the transition into the classroom is seamless, providing high-quality instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) that keeps students engaged and progressing toward their targets.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Mathematical Literacy: Plan and deliver lessons that make Algebra, Ratio, and Geometry accessible to all learning levels.

  • Support Exam Achievement: Lead Year 11 classes through the final hurdles of their GCSE preparation with confidence and clarity.

  • Create a Positive Atmosphere: Maintain a well-managed classroom that encourages students to take risks and learn from their mistakes.

  • Collaborative Spirit: Work alongside a supportive department to share best practices and contribute to a unified teaching approach.

  • School Standards: Adhere to all Wigan school policies, ensuring safeguarding and professional conduct are always a priority.

What We Are Looking For
  • Full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Accompanied by a degree in Mathematics or a high-level quantitative subject.

  • Proven Track Record: Experience teaching the UK Maths curriculum at the secondary level.

  • Wigan Pride: A teacher who can connect with the local community and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.

  • Adaptability: The "get up and go" attitude needed to step into a new environment and make an immediate impact.

  • Vetting: A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

Why Work with Us?
  • Competitive Pay: Daily rates from £150 - £230, paid weekly to reflect your professional value.

  • Ideal Location: Work in a town with excellent transport links between Manchester and Liverpool.

  • Diverse Experience: Broaden your teaching portfolio by working in different school settings across the borough.

  • Incentives: Earn £300 through our "Refer a Friend" scheme for every successful referral.
