We are looking to recruit a Maternity Support Worker for the QEQM Maternity team. The successful applicant will be part of the midwifery team to deliver high quality person‑centred care. Supervision and support are provided by Registered Midwives.

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is “great healthcare from great people”. Everything we do is guided by our values: “People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference”. Our new way of working at East Kent Hospitals is called “We care”, which empowers frontline staff to lead improvements day‑to‑day. We are looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.

Responsibilities
  • Fundamental personal care duties including bathing, toileting and dressing, and caring for neonate personal needs.
  • Supporting parents in the transition to their new family unit, including infant feeding support.
  • Delegated clinical care duties such as taking and recording patients’ and neonatal vital observations; blood glucose monitoring; observing patients for signs of agitation or distress; wound observations and simple wound dressings; removal of peripheral cannula; phlebotomy and removal of catheters.
  • Completing pregnancy testing, routine maternal and neonatal observations and other clinical duties to enable the team to provide an effective and efficient service within the hospital setting.
Requirements & Sponsorship
  • If you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK you must declare it on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country.
  • We are only able to sponsor candidates on a Health & Care Skilled Worker Visa for roles Band 4 and above; Band 2 & 3 do not meet the minimum salary requirement from 9th April 2025.
  • Applicants must be able to perform the duties listed above and meet the supervision and support expectations of the midwifery team.
