Job Description

Animal Equality is an international animal protection organisation working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals.

We are seeking a strategic, data-driven, and solutions-oriented Marketing Manager to lead the optimisation of our supporter engagement systems and data-driven marketing operations in the UK.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering seamless, personalised experiences for our supporters. Line-managing the UK Marketing and Communications team members, the Marketing Manager will streamline and coordinate Animal Equality’s public communications, ensuring they are streamlined, impactful, and evidence-based.

By maintaining data integrity, strengthening reporting, and driving robust monitoring and evaluation, you will empower colleagues across departments to make data-informed decisions, deepen supporter relationships, and increase fundraising income to advance our mission for farmed animals.

The Marketing Manager will play an essential role in optimising Animal Equality’s CRM platforms (with a focus on Salesforce and related tools), ensuring they are efficient, intuitive to use, and designed with our supporters’ experiences in mind.

Responsibilities
  • Supporter experience management:Collaborate with the Executive Director, International Marketing Director, and UK team members to develop and manage data-driven fundraising and engagement campaigns. Oversee audience segmentation, targeting, and personalisation strategies for digital campaigns (email, SMS, paid media, landing pages). Build and manage automation workflows to support supporter journeys. Work with colleagues to design and manage donation forms, surveys, and engagement tools, ensuring smooth user experience and accurate data capture.
  • Monitor and report on metrics:Monitor and optimise campaign performance through A/B testing, analytics, and reporting. Track and analyse key metrics (e.g., open rates, conversions, donations, petition signatures), producing dashboards that are accurate, accessible, and actionable. Share actionable insights from testing and analytics to support colleagues to refine their output for animals.
  • Own and optimise CRM systems:Lead on CRM platform management, optimisation, and integration, ensuring it delivers an excellent supporter experience and is straightforward for colleagues to use. Define and implement supporter journeys that maximise acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Ensure data integrity:Ensure data quality, accuracy, and compliance (including GDPR), setting best practices for data hygiene, segmentation, and usage. Manage CRM processes and documentation, identifying inefficiencies and implementing improvements.
Other
  • Capacity building:Support and train colleagues in CRM use, ensuring adoption and confidence across teams. Line-manage team members in the UK Marketing and Communications departments, supporting recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development. Ensure Animal Equality’s brand and tone of voice guidelines are consistent across all supporter communications.
  • Manage Marketing team member(s):oversee the day-to-day management of team members in Communications and Marketing and, if requested, additional future hires within the relevant departments. Support them through mentorship, constructive feedback, individual personal development planning, and oversee approvals for requested leave and public marketing materials.
  • Represent Animal Equality’s culture:Support Animal Equality’s life-saving work by producing high-quality output, embracing and representing the organisation’s culture principles proudly at all times, and supporting our philanthropic efforts.
  • Take on ad-hoc tasks:as requested by your line-manager.
Role Requirements

You are a strategic thinker with hands-on technical expertise, equally comfortable designing supporter journeys as you are cleaning up data or analysing objectives. You thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, combining attention to detail with a solutions-focused mindset.

In addition, you actively seek constructive feedback and use it to continuously improve your work. You show ownership and a growth mindset that is focused on improving the world for farmed animals. Knowledge of farmed animal issues and alignment with Animal Equality’s mission is a must, as is professionalism, adaptability, and discretion.

You must have a minimum of five years’ experience in managing CRM systems (Salesforce experience strongly preferred), with proven experience of streamlining complex CRMs for usability and efficiency. A track record of understanding and evaluating direct marketing and digital advocacy campaigns, skilled in M&E, and strong copywriting skills. You must have hands-on experience managing team members and supporting their professional growth. Experience in marketing automation, and familiarity with GDPR best practice, is desirable.

In addition to monthly meet-ups, some travel within the UK may be required for demonstrations, meetings, and events. While not common, occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to support campaigning activities. Any additional hours worked and agreed with your Manager can be reclaimed as TOIL.
