Overview

Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust is committed to safeguarding and protecting adults and children from abuse. The safeguarding team provides support and guidance to front line staff to ensure risks are identified and appropriate services referred, enabling collaboration at the earliest opportunity.

Responsibilities
  • Represent KMMH in Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and share mental health views from practitioners.
  • Develop multi‑agency action plans that reflect mental health and care needs for high‑risk domestic abuse concerns.
  • Prevent abuse and protect adults and children at risk through data and research collection applied to the MARAC system.
  • Attend MARAC meetings as required.
  • Use the Kent and Medway MARAC case management system and represent KMMH professionally.
  • Complete research and document outcomes in client RiO records, ensuring patients are supported and protected from harm.
  • Collate and monitor MARAC statistics, participate in audit activities and collect evidence of action‑plan compliance.
  • Provide learning events, deliver training and establish service needs relating to safeguarding/MARAC, promoting the view that safeguarding is everyone’s business.
  • Support front line staff in meeting safeguarding obligations through training and feedback.
  • Maintain contemporaneous records and audit activity.
  • Provide flexible cover when needed, travel and use video‑conferencing technology.
Qualifications
  • Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car/vehicle for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
  • Proficient IT skills including Excel and Word.
  • Excellent record‑keeping skills.
  • Experience in mental health services is advantageous, but the ability to capture and share information from mental health professionals clearly and to advocate effectively is essential.
  • Willingness to work in isolated/lone working due to the nature of data input.
