Shape the Future of Maintenance Across 7 UK Cold Store Sites

Are you a strategic, hands-on PPM Maintenance Manager who has built PPM systems from scratch and can demonstrate their previous achievements in reducing downtime, cost saving and making maintenance improvements through your PPM implementations and strategies?

We're looking to hire a PPM Maintenance Manager to lead engineering operations and preventative maintenance strategies across 7 UK cold distribution centres, improving uptime, reducing breakdowns, and delivering measurable cost savings.

You'll be expected to own the PPM process end-to-end from system design and asset logging to team training, reporting, and demonstrating ROI.

Site Locations

  • Bury St Edmunds
  • Brierley Hill
  • Folkestone
  • Kent
  • Braintree
  • Newark
  • Wrexham

Two days of travel per week (fully expensed van, hotel, meals)

Core Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a scalable PPM strategy across all sites
  • Build asset registers and input machines into a live maintenance system (e.g. SHIRE, SAP, Pirana, Excel)
  • Create structured fault, part, and asset codes to track trends and future analysis
  • Develop job plans/task lists for engineers and ensure accurate maintenance logging
  • Train engineering teams (mechanical and electrical) on the PPM system
  • Coordinate and integrate external contractors (e.g., refrigeration) into your maintenance workflows
  • Standardise processes across locations, ensuring consistent reporting and compliance
  • Use maintenance KPIs to improve uptime, reduce breakdowns and callouts, and justify investments
  • Present data-backed improvements in downtime reduction, production flow, and cost savings
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience building a PPM system from scratch (not inheriting one)
  • Direct responsibility for asset logging, fault tracking, and code creation
  • Experience rolling out PPM across multiple sites with varied equipment
  • Examples of measurable outcomes: reduced downtime, improved MTTR/MTBF, lower maintenance costs
  • Strong working knowledge of SHIRE, Pirana, SAP, MaintenanceX, or similar CMMS
  • Confident using data to make decisions and influence senior stakeholders
  • 5+ years managing maintenance/engineering teams in:
    • Facilities management
    • Cold-chain logistics
    • Manufacturing/industrial environments
  • NVQ Level 3 or above in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Full UK driving licence and British passport
What's in It for You

  • Dental and health plan (non-private)
  • All travel paid Holiday Inn stays + unlimited meal allowance
  • SHIRE PPM training upon starting as a refresher
  • No overtime or weekend work
  • Company pension scheme
Interview Process: What you'll Be Asked

To ensure you have true ownership experience, you'll be asked to share real examples during the interview:

  • How you set up and scaled a PPM system
  • How you created asset registers, fault/part codes, and job plans
  • How you trained your team and managed engineer compliance
  • Examples where you reduced downtime or delivered cost/time savings
  • How you used KPIs and data to improve operations or justify changes
  • Your approach to managing PPM across multi-site, varied-equipment environments

If this describes you apply now. You'll have a chance to lead a practical, scalable maintenance program that directly impacts uptime, cost, and safety. Contact at CV Bay, East Midlands office for an immediate reply
