Qualifications

  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship as a Maintenance Engineer.
  • HNC/HND qualified in Engineering required.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment preferred.

  • Work on motors, gearboxes, VSDs, and related systems.
  • Manage on-site contractors and spare parts.

Overview

Maintenance Engineer – East London (E16). Monday-Friday Days (7am-3pm). Salary: £47,000 - £48,000 per annum + Benefits.

Our client is an established food manufacturer, part of a larger global group, with multiple sites worldwide. They are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join the production & packaging team to support growth and CI projects at the site.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance and safety checks on high-speed food production lines, packaging machinery, conveyors, metal detectors, labellers, baggers, checkweighers, PLCs, control panels, robotics, depositors, and related electrical and mechanical systems; perform fault finding, repairs, strip-downs & overhauls.
  • Work on motors, gearboxes, VSDs/inverters, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, drives and bearings to restore and improve equipment performance.
  • Improve plant availability and reliability through continuous improvement activities.
  • Monitor contractors on site and manage spares & parts as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer with a recognised apprenticeship completed.
  • HNC/HND qualified in Engineering.
  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding and problem solving skills.
  • Experience with industrial processing equipment and manufacturing systems; preferably in a similar food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety isolation procedures is beneficial.
  • Experience with motors, sensors, inverters/VSDs, gearboxes, pneumatics, drives.
  • Experience using SAP is beneficial.
  • PLC systems experience is advantageous.
  • ATEX/CompEX environment experience would be great.
