Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative maintenance tasks to keep facilities in working order.
• Carry out reactive maintenance including plumbing and general repairs.
• Support the upkeep of building areas and report issues promptly.
• Assist with contractor supervision and ensure compliance with policies.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and respond to requests promptly.

Job description

Are you an experienced Maintenance Assistant with a background in Facilities Management? We're looking for a proactive and reliable Maintenance Assistant to join our clients team in Durham.

The Package:

• Competitive salary of up to £30,000 per annum
• Full-time, permanent position
• Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
• 33 days annual holidays (including bank holidays)

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Performing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks across the site, ensuring equipment and facilities are kept in good working order.
• Carrying out reactive maintenance and repairs as needed – including minor plumbing, joinery, painting, and general fabric work.
• Supporting the upkeep of interior and exterior building areas, including inspections and reporting of any issues.
• Assisting with contractor supervision and ensuring compliance with site policies and procedures.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and completing work logs and job sheets.
• Responding promptly to maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and company standards.

Requirements:

• Participating in any site moves, equipment installations, or small project works as required
• Full UK driving licence and own vehicle
• Hands‑on experience in a facilities, estates, or building maintenance environment
• A background as a Handyperson, Maintenance Operative or Fabric Engineer role
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Joinery (Desired)
• A positive attitude and ability to work independently
• Good understanding of maintenance procedures
