This isn't a position managing drivers as the transportation of their products is done by external hauliers and carriers, you\'d be looking after the department that loads the trucks and plans the routes that need to be taken. If you have experience in logistics management, ideally in a distribution/warehouse environment and are used to managing a team this could be a fantastic opportunity.

The Role
  • Overall the role is responsible for activities relating to the accurate, efficient and timely processing of products in the logistics departments including inbound and outbound transport and logistics, loading bays and yard management through effective leadership, motivation and development of staff.
  • Management of hauliers/carriers and monitoring performance against service level agreements
  • Working closely with demand planning, customer care, export and inevntory teams to meet the customer and business needs
  • Management of the logistics team, consisting of 4 team leaders and their respective teams of operatves and administrators.
  • Conducting performance analysis and re-forecasting to ensure optimum trailer fill and effective communication with service providers
  • Planning and routing vehicles for exception orders that need to be delivered directly to the customer through the company pool vehicles.
  • Suprvision of all logistics documentation and ownership of departmental compliance in accordance with ISO9001
  • Core working days are Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm. Weekends or out of hours working would only be required in emergency or unusual circumstances.
The Person
  • We're looking for someone who has experience managing teams and workloads within a fast paced logistics/transport environment and a track record of delivering results.
  • Strong leadership skills are needed with the ability to manage, motivate, coach and develop a team
  • Excellent attention to detail is needed and the ability to be organised and ready to change processes or manage them in a more process orientated manner to ensure efficiency is maximised.
  • Experience or understanding of dispatch and transport within an automated warehouse operation would be desireable although not essential.
  • Experience working with SAP or a similar system would be highly beneficial
  • You'll have experience co-ordinating workloads, productivity and efficiency and also be used to moitoring issues and implementing the required correction in line with SOPs and work instructions.
The Package
  • A basic salary of 45,000 (depending on experience) is offered
  • An annual bonus (after probation period) is offered
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Death in service 4 x salary
