To ensure goods arrive at their destination safely and on time.
The driver may be required to work overtime if the service requires it and may be asked to cover often at short notice.
Uniforms are expected to be always worn and to be maintained in a clean and tidy manner. Where Mobile phones are provided, this is for business use only and is expected to be charged and working while on duty and must not be used whilst the vehicles are in motion. ID badges must be always worn.
The driver may be required occasionally to train and supervise new staff and agency drivers on scheduled routes and may be required to work different shift patterns than their normal scheduled.
It is the responsibility of the driver to ensure that when parking the vehicle on the public highway, the vehicle is parked on a permitted area. Should parking tickets be issued, it will be the drivers responsibility to pay for it.
Use of physical effort will be required e.g. lifting heavy loads. Must follow manual handling guidelines when handling/moving stores and post.
Ability to organise additional duties, prioritise workloads, covering alternative routes when diversions take place, severe weather, and traffic conditions.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
